Information About Plastic Surgery Procedures

Facelift is a surgical procedure used to help patients regain a more youthful facial profile. During facelift surgery, many of the unwelcome signs of aging are removed. Facial aging is most often caused by prolonged exposure to sun, wind and stress, which makes the skin sag and lose its youthful elasticity. Facelift surgery typically requires 2-3 hours to complete. During this procedure, a surgeon creates a more toned facial profile by tightening facial muscles and removing excess fat and skin. After face lift surgery is completed, post-surgical dressings are applied and worn by the patient for 24 hours. These dressings are then removed and replaced by elastic bandaging, which is worn by the patient throughout recovery. Some patients fully recovered within four weeks after surgery; however, most patients prefer to put off social engagements until six weeks have passed since their surgery.
