Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

Liposuction is a surgical procedure during which a surgeon removes excess fat in order to create a more defined body line. Liposuction surgery takes from 45 minutes to two hours and is considered a permanent procedure. Recovery time for liposuction is, on average, two to three days, but many patients have been able to return to work the day after their surgery. An alternative to liposuction is lipodissolve. This procedure uses a chemical solution and the body's own physiology in order to dissolve the fat. Lipodissolve is not considered a surgical procedure, has a shorter recovery time and is much less invasive than liposuction. However, lipodissolve is not approved by the FDA. When determining which plastic surgery procedure is right for you, please consult a board-certified plastic surgeon in order to assess the risks, costs, benefits and side effects of each procedure.
